In 2005, after going through some severe personal tests, I began this group of images. The images respond to a passage from 'The Seven Valleys' by Baha'u'llah, the prophet-founder of the Bahai Faith. The story tells of a lover seeking his beloved. The lover is hopeless after being unable to find his love and one night can 'live no more'. He makes his way to the market place and is suddenly followed by a watchman. He fears the watchman will harm him and runs only to find more watchmen have 'barred every passage to the weary one.' At last he reaches a high wall and with 'untold pain' he climbs it and falls into a garden where he finds his beloved 'searching for a ring she has lost.' This allegory of the purpose of pain and difficulties I still find very healing and hopeful. This continues to be a work in progress and I expect to exhibit and publish these images sometime soon.
